The purpose of the GJHS student council is to guide the student body toward making healthy life choices, contributing to the community in beneficial ways, and providing fun activities in which all students can participate.
Student Council members go through a process of submitting applications, participating in interviews, and campaigning before they are voted to serve as representatives of their grade level. A day-long retreat is then held off campus to build leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills among the student council members.
Student Council members are expected to attend weekly meetings at 7:15 on Monday mornings, as well as, the extracurricular activities which the group plans throughout the year. A positive attitude is required, as members build an atmosphere of total student body inclusion in the events.
